- PERFORMANCE -
Learning to Perform - both as a soloist and within a group - is an essential part of music education and a life skill in itself.
As part of a student’s life at London Youth Conservatoire, they will be offered a vast range of performance opportunities.
Weekly Platform Concerts - A perfect opportunity to perform a new piece with the school accompanist. Pupil’s sign-up for Platform whenever they wish and are required to do so if preparing for an exam. Feedback is given by the Director of Music or other teacher. All pupils are asked to perform in a Platform concert run by their instrument teacher in the year, even the complete beginners.
Showcase Concerts - an opportunity for our more advanced pupils to perform individually and in chamber groups in a more formal concert setting. Also a great opportunity for less advanced children to be inspired by their peers.
School Concerts - usually at Christmas and in the Summer term. Whole school concerts involving the mass participation of all the choirs, orchestras, and other groups.
Awards - Summer term. There are three categories Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Finalists in each category perform in an evening concert in front of a panel of external adjudicators for the coveted award.
External concerts - Some of our more senior ensembles and our audition choir perform at events outside the school. These have included Festivals, Community Fairs, local concerts.
Outreach events - London Youth Conservatoire takes its music to others in the community. Selected pupils of all ages and standards are invited to perform in various settings such as hospitals, retirement homes and nurseries during the course of the year.
